Chemical Process Engineering Program

Chemical Process Engineering Technology program focuses on the operation, monitoring, control and basic design of chemical processes and maintenance of process equipment. Chemical Process Engineering is a branch of Engineering that applies physical sciences together with mathematics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and energy.

The one-year program equips graduates with both the knowledge and practical skills necessary to begin their career as competent process operators and chemical process engineering technologists.



Fluid Mechanics

This course introduces the concept of fluid and flow, flow equations, piping calculations and hydraulics, packed bed and fluidized bed flow, Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, multiphase flows, compressible fluids, laminar and turbulent flows, and mixing.

Heat Transfer

This course covers the introduction to heat transfer and role of heat transfer in chemical industries. Types of heat transfer including the conduction, convection, radiation and heat transfer during phase changes. Students learn how to calculate and analyze temperature distribution and heat flow distribution in chemical processes.

Separation Processes

This course covers the fundamentals of mass transfer and diffusion concept, introduction to mass transfer coefficient, and interphase mass transfer.

In this course difference separation processes such as Distillation, Extraction, Leaching, Humidification, Sedimentation, Evaporation, Drying, Adsorption, Filtration, Membrane Technology, Centrifuge, Crystallization are explained.

Pumps and Compressors

This course includes the introduction, operation, basic design, and maintenance of pumps and compressors.

Heat Transfer Equipment

This course covers the heat transfer equipment in chemical industries such as heat exchangers, boilers, furnaces, coils and jackets, and air coolers. Types, operation and basic design of heat transfer equipment are covered.


This course introduces the reading and development of flow diagrams in chemical industries including block flow diagram, process flow diagram, and piping and instrumentation diagram.

Process Control and Instrumentation

This course covers the basic concepts in process control, control loops, feedback and feed forward control, control loops in chemical industries for heat exchangers, reactors, towers and pumps.

Chemical Industries

This course contains an introduction to difference chemical processes such as processes in polymers and plastics industry, refinery processes, petrochemical processes, chemical processes in detergents and cosmetics industry, mineral processing, food industry, and biochemical processes.

Mass and Energy Balance

This course introduces the basic principles and calculations in chemical engineering technology. This course includes the introduction to liquids, gases and vapors, basic calculations in chemical engineering, material balance and energy balance.


This course covers the basic concepts and calculations in thermodynamics. Concepts of enthalpy, entropy, work, heat, phase equilibrium is covered in this course.

Chemical Reactors and Kinetics

This course introduces the basic principles of chemical reactions, kinetics, and chemical reactors. Kinetics of difference types of chemical reactions is explained, and also difference types of chemical reactors and their operation, and basic design is covered.
